The Law of your Mother

“My son, hear the instruction of your father,
And do not forsake the law of your mother;
For they will be a graceful ornament on your head,
And chains about your neck (Proverbs 1: 8-9).

My son, keep your father’s command,
And do not forsake the law of your mother.
Bind them continually upon your heart;
Tie them around your neck.
When you roam, [j]they will lead you;
When you sleep, they will keep you;
And when you awake, they will speak with you (Proverbs 6: 20-22).

It demonstrates the weight of good instructions from our parents.

Instructions from a father and law from a mother are important, even if not everyone has the privilege to get them.

So this is my question?

What guiding principle did your mother impart to you while you were young which we can call “The law of your mother”.

    Not sure all her ‘laws’ were edifying. One I remember was that she discouraged us from getting emotional. If we got too excited, she’d say, ‘It’ll end in tears.’
