“But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. 12 So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, [b]take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 22:11-13).
The Lord used parables to convey spiritual truths.
The wedding feast in this parable is the marriage of the Lamb. The wedding garment is the righteousness of the saints. The only thing that qualifies us to sit at the marriage of the lamb is our righteousness in Christ. We can see confirmation of our garments in the scripture below:
“ Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (Revelation 19:7-8).”
“There is no other way; it is our being made righteous in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5: 21) that qualifies us to sit at that table”.
The good news is that this wedding garment is free. It is simply calling upon Jesus Christ and receiving the price that he paid for us. Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved!.
Jesus Christ has made provision for everyone to have the wedding garment. This is the price that Jesus paid for us.
If you don’t have the wedding garment now, just call upon the Lord and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
“ That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10: 9-10)”.
The wedding garment, which is our righteousness, is found only in Christ.
